Islamabad: On Sunday, on the Kulbhushan Jadhav case, Pakistan said that it has fully followed the decision of the ICJ. A few days ago, the lawyer for India said that New Delhi was hopeful that he would convince Islamabad informally through the release of Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Note that 49-year-old Kulbhushan Jadhav is a retired Indian Navy officer. He was arrested and sentenced to death by a Pakistan military court in April 2017 on espionage and terrorism charges. A few weeks later, India challenged Pakistan in the International Court of Justice for the denial of diplomatic access to Kulbhushan Jadhav and his death sentence.

Harish Salve was the Chief Counsel of India for Jadhav at the CJ. In July last year, the ICJ ruled that Pakistan should effectively review and reconsider Jadhav's sentence. It should also provide immediate diplomatic access. Speaking online from London on May 3, Harish Salve said that we hoped that we would convince Pakistan to leave Jadhav through informal channels.

During this, Salve said that we said - we want his return. They should be abandoned. Because it has become a major cause of ego in Pakistan. So we hoped they would let them go. But Pakistan did not leave. Responding to Salve's talk, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said that Islamabad has considered the statements of India's counsel in the Jadhav case.

Pakistan completely followed the decision

Aisha Farooqui said that Salve has made some such statements which are contrary to the facts, asking to knock back the door of ICJ. He said that we completely reject the baseless and untrue statement of India's counsel that Pakistan has not complied with the decision of the ICJ in the case. Pakistan has fully followed the decision and will continue to do so.

At the same time, Aisha Farooqui said that Pakistan granted Indian diplomatic access to Jadhav and is in the process of effective review and reconsideration in line with the ICJ decision.
